Photos

Just the rest of the photos from the last blog :-)

Getting there....

ok... so what have I done from the last time I wrote? ....
Since I am doing "Stangers on a train", I got together a few ideas of where I could do the location shoots. As some of the film is set in a theme park, It would be an idea to hunt down some theme parks nearby... I couldn't think of any except the little family park on Dawlish Warren. These went ok, and I think that in the summer holiday times, it will be packed wich will make the park look slightly bigger and it will have more character to it. most of the rides were closed at the time that I went so I could only shoot from the barrier. Most of the ries are old style like the carousel and the dodgems, all the rides like the film.

I also tried to find somewhere that looked like a train carriage like the film, I decided not to photograph the modern trains at the moment, but to go with a slightly more older and authentic style, so my first thoughts was to shoot one of the main seating areas in the Goodbodies 24hr cafe on the Mutley Plain, however every time that I went in, the manager was not there so today I took a stroll down the mutley pain and stopped in some of the pubs. I targeted some of the older style seating booths there, These work not bad but the light was very dim which made it hard to photograph. I dont think I will go with these, but I'm closer than I was before to finding somewhere ideal.

hmm... I cant upload anymore photos on this blog... probs should have done them all together, I will upload them onto my next blog.

I also went up to the moors. It was a good drive and I was looking at the roads and the land around them. deserted. I got confused between strangers on a train and also North by Northwest. I was going along the lines of trying to recreate part of the film where Roger Thornhill is on his way to meet chaplin and is getting attacked by a plain in the middle of no-where. However I then realised when I got home from the moors that that was the wrong film... but on the upside, I got some good photos and I will hopefully be able to use them in this project somehow.

Anyway... better go now. bye

Location, Location, Location

Ok... So now I have watched:

Strangers On A Train
North By Northwest
Dial For Murder

I have done research for all 3 of these films and also written down some brief ideas and notes from when I was watching the films. These proved to be useful and I needed to then choose a film to base the project around. This was hard to do because all of the films were really good and I think that they all could of been great to work with but I could only choose one.
I thought about how each film could be shot out on location and also re-created in the studio and which ones would work best and in what areas. The film therefor that I chosen to go with is Strangers on a Train because it has a good mix of scenes both inside and out of the studio.

Today I will gather some ideas that I could use for 3 different scenes from the film and tomorrow I will be going out on location to take these ideas further. To this point, I dont have many ideas of locations but more will come before tomoro... well thats the plan anyway.

I will write another blog hopefully tomorrow when I get back from the chosen locations.

Getting there... but slowly...

Ok, So it's now been about 1-2 weeks since my last blog entry. Time to write another one.

Since the first blog, I have hunted down and bought several Alfred Hitchcock films from ebay. Trying to find them cheaply or free was quite hard, time was running out so ebay was the next answer, to prove successful. These films arrived yesterday and so far I have watched 2 films

North By Northwest
Strangers On A Train.

Both of these films were very good, I think overall, North By North West was the one I enjoyed the most. This leaves me with one other film to watch, which is very likely to be "Dial M For Murder"
I have researched a little into the background of Hitchcock and also into "Strangers On A Train". I think that so far, this project is going quite slowly but hopefully it will speed up a bit more as the deadline for the first presentations draw closer.
My next plans will be to watch one more Alfred Hitchcock film and to do further research. Then the plan is to pick two of the films that I enjoyed the most and to do thorough research into them.
